Bird News Items
No Bird News Items today. Logistical difficulties with overseas travel. We will be back in your inbox next weekend. But we do want to leave you with a few “Items” this morning:
1. First, you know birding is going mainstream when you get an Instagram post about birds and birding from an NFL practice facility - we love this!
2. Photos from Friends:
Taken by John Fitzpatrick, this is the first eBird record of a Broad-billed Roller from the Farquhar Atoll in the Seychelles. “Fitz” is the former Executive Director of the Cornell Lab of Ornithology and in the words of Scott Weidensaul, “one of the most important figures in ornithology” in the last 50 years.
3. And then there is this: While in Normandy visiting Utah and Omaha beaches, we came across two gentlemen training two young Goshawks (technically Eurasian Goshawks) behind Utah Beach. Spectacular birds of prey:
4. And finally, again from Normandy, a rainbow over hallowed ground - taken from the Normandy American Cemetery, with Omaha Beach in the distance:
Until next Saturday!
